Today we spoke with Phil Magalnick and Honorata Kazmierczak about their love story, their Fidelco guide dogs Chloe and Kerry, and what it is like living with RP.
The condition called retinitis pigmentosa is a set of rare genetic eye diseases that cause cells in the retina to slowly break down over time.
Both Phil and Honorata have this condition. Phil began losing his eyesight back when he was 13 and Honorata when she was 26 years old.
Through an online Facebook page, they both met expressing their interest in getting a guide dog. With having so much in common, they messaged back and forth and finally met in person! The only thing is they didn't realize they were going to leave that meeting with a life partner.
The couple recently got married at the same place it all started - that same train platform!
Guide dogs Chloe and Kerry get along very well and work great together.
