A four-year-old girl in Beaverton, Oregon, is being recognized for helping first responders reach her injured grandmother after a fall. Nova Hallet recognized something was wrong and asked a neighbor to call 911. Doorbell camera footage of the incident shows her guiding police officers to the apartment. Her mother, Haley Rose, learned about the incident while she was at work and was able to watch her daughter communicate with first responders as she rushed home.
Police say Nova’s 76-year-old grandmother was confused after hitting her head, and emergency responders quickly provided assistance before taking her to the hospital. Officers reassured the family and praised Nova during the response. Rose says hearing her daughter speak with officers helped her stay calm while driving home.
She shares that her daughter and her grandmother are very close and often spend time together. Nova told her mom she saw her grandma fall but didn’t know how it happened. Her grandmother has since returned home, and the Beaverton Police Department is nominating Nova for a community life-saving award.
