It’s a tough time to be a job seeker, with hiring down in several industries and mass layoffs happening in other sectors. That means more workers are competing for the limited open positions, making it even more challenging to get hired. But it turns out, some positions aren’t facing that struggle and a new report from Monster highlights which ones they are.
The employment site’s latest Job Market Report has just come out, revealing the top job titles employers are hiring for right now.
- It’s based on tens of thousands of job listings on the site in the third quarter.
- It finds that health care is currently the hottest sector, with six of the top 10 jobs on Monster’s list in this field.
- Vicki Salemi, career expert at Monster, says that in addition to health care, “essential roles continue to show resiliency,” including truck drivers and delivery drivers.
- Beyond the top 10 jobs, she points out that seasonal hiring is happening, as retail and hospitality positions open up for the holidays.
- Her advice for anyone looking for a job is to ditch mass-apply methods and get focused. “It’s not about quantity. The key is not applying to hundreds of jobs and seeing what sticks,” Salemi explains. “Actually, it’s the reverse. It’s having a specific job search.”
