Sister Mary Madalyn Schleifer of Pittsburgh is making headlines as a fearless crime fighter, and it’s not the first time. Known for confronting thieves in the past, she recently chased down a credit card thief at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Store in Bloomfield. A shopper noticed her cards were missing, and the good Sister acted quickly, pursuing the thief and recovering the stolen items.
When asked why she does it, she says, "You don't think about that. There's no why, it just happens. It happens so fast." She recalls a past incident where a jewelry thief threatened to shoot her, but she simply replied, "All I want to tell you is Jesus loves you."
Sister Mary Madalyn sees those committing crimes as children of God who can still change, saying "We're all His children, whether we know it or not." She explains that sometimes people are misled, but she believes in offering them hope through faith. She has a simple message to those who may be struggling: "Jesus loves you. God loves you." She adds that her courage doesn’t come from inside, but from the strength of who she represents.
