When it comes to healthy skin, we focus a lot about the things we are putting on it. But what about the things we are putting in our bodies? That's right, there are some foods we can be eating that can help give us healthier skin. "Real Simple" spoke with several experts to find out what we really should be putting into our bodies to help give us clearer and healthier skin. Happy eating!
- Fatty Fish: Salmon, sardines, and other fatty fish are filled with anti-inflammatory ingredients. They have Omega-3s, which maintain the skin's moisture barrier. This can help with hydration and protection from any environmental damage.
- Tomatoes: Lycopene's found in tomatoes, which improves the quality and the texture of our skin.
- Walnuts: Not only are they rich in Omega-3s, but they are also filled with zinc; two things that are "crucial for skin health." As mentioned above, Omega-3s work to maintain the skin's moisture barrier. Zinc works to help with the skin's healing.
- Bell Peppers: We buy all of the Vitamin C for our skin. But did you know that there's more Vitamin C that what our body needs daily in just one cup of chopped bell peppers? That's not all, either. Bell peppers have carotenoids, which can protect against sun damage.
- Sunflower seeds: Sunflower seeds have vitamin E in it, which supports skin healing, regeneration, and can help protect from environmental damage.
