Last month, Richard Pryor, a deacon at Crosspointe Community Church in Wayne, Michigan, took decisive action when he saw an armed man approaching the church. While sitting in his vehicle, Pryor spotted the suspect carrying multiple weapons toward the church and immediately drove his truck forward to stop him. Although a bullet was fired through his truck, Pryor was unharmed in the incident and his actions may have prevented a tragedy.
His truck was totaled in the process, but his bravery didn’t go unnoticed. Last Friday, the staff at local auto dealer Demmer Ford surprised him with a brand-new Ford F-150. "He was incredibly grateful for it," says dealership owner Matthew Demmer, who added that Pryor initially said he didn’t deserve the gift.
Despite the armed suspect continuing to fire from the ground, no one inside the church was hurt, thanks to the good Samaritan’s actions and church security who quickly intervened. Pryor credits the outcome to divine intervention and says he’s grateful for the overwhelming support he’s received, although he adds, “Hopefully, I can go back into hiding after this.”
