A fire broke out at an apartment complex in Cleveland, Ohio, last week. During the chaos, a mother trapped on the third floor was forced to throw her baby from the window to a group of rescuers below. A video captured the dramatic moment, showing the child being safely caught by the crowd.
One of the rescuers, Reginald Barnes, says he heard a ticking sound followed by an explosion before running toward the burning building. âI was like, âDrop the baby, let her go. I am going to catch her,ââ he recalls saying, adding that he was thinking of his own children as he made sure the baby was saved.
Both mother and baby made it out safely, and five people were reported seriously injured in the explosion. Cleveland officials issued a statement saying the city is working with local partners to assist those affected and a local donation center has been set up to collect items to help the victims.
