Being a mom can be challenging and being a working mom can be even tougher, but where you live can make a big difference. A new report out just ahead of Mother’s Day reveals the states that are doing the most and the least to help meet the needs of working mothers.
- WalletHub’s annual list of the Best and Worst States for Working Moms has just come out.
- They compared all 50 states and Washington, D.C. on 17 key metrics, including child care costs, pediatricians per capita, median women’s salary and parental leave policy.
- In 2025, Massachusetts is once again the best state for working moms, landing at number one for both work-life balance and child care.
- Maryland, 11th overall, is first for professional opportunities for working moms.
- On the flip side, the worst state for working moms is Louisiana, which comes in dead last for child care and professional opportunities, and 37th for work-life balance.
