Earlier this week, four kids in Attleboro, Massachusetts, were rescued after falling through the ice on Lee’s Pond. The incident happened after one child fell in and the others attempted to help, but then ended up falling through the ice as well. Auto dealership worker Max Castro, who was in the middle of a sale when he witnessed the incident, immediately sprang into action, calling 911 and rushing to the scene with his clients.
Castro and his customers used snow brooms to pull the children to safety before first responders arrived. The father of one of the children, Alex Heng, expressed deep gratitude, crediting luck and quick-thinking of the rescuers for saving the kids. He stressed the dangers of thin ice, and urges other parents to be extra cautious as temperatures rise.
Authorities also warned families to stay off frozen bodies of water as winter turns to spring. Ice can weaken unpredictably, making it especially dangerous for children. Thanks to Castro’s quick response and the teamwork of bystanders, all four kids made it out safely.
