After the bride and groom say “I do” and guests listen to heartwarming speeches and watch the newlyweds share their first dance, everyone else is ready to hit the dance floor. It turns out, there are a few classic tracks that play at receptions all the time and new research reveals which ones they are.
- A new study from Breezit, an online wedding vendor search tool, names the most popular wedding songs of all time.
- They analyzed 2-thousand wedding-themed playlists on Spotify, with a total of 49,091 songs.
- The playlists were chosen based on keywords, like “wedding dance floor,” “wedding party,” “walking down the aisle” and “first dance songs.”
- “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston appears in 484 of those playlists, making it the most popular wedding song of all time.
- The 1987 hit is included in 24.2% of the playlists.
- ABBA’s “Dancing Queen” comes in second, appearing in 394 of the playlists (19.7%).
