Meet the CT Humane Society's Adoptable Pet of the Week: Bluey

Meet Bluey, who is a male parakeet! Though his age is unknown, we do know he is a talkative and sweet parakeet that will do well in a home with a family who has had experience owning birds. He will be an excellent match in a home with another male parakeet.

Parakeets (also known as budgies) bring joy and song to your home. These curious creatures seek out novel objects, which makes them fun to watch when they interact with their toys and perches. They are social birds, who can be hand tamed and will seek out their owners once bonded. Parakeets can be single pets, or can be kept as pairs or small, single-sex groups. We recommend a flight habitat suitably sized for the number of parakeets housed. It should contain perches in a range of sizes, which should be cleaned and sterilized regularly. With proper care, Parakeets can live between 7 and 15 years.

If you're in love with Bluey, he is available for adoption in Newington. See more at CThumane.org/adopt, or come visit in person. CHS is an independent nonprofit organization located in Newington, Waterford, and soon Wilton, and a reduced-fee Fox Memorial Clinic for owned pets, and is not affiliated with the government or any other animal welfare organizations. CHS’ work is made possible 100% through the generosity of donors.
