Christina Walton, Executive Director of the Seymour Oxford Food Bank, joins us live from the Travelers Championship. The food bank, located in the lower level of the Seymour Community Center, offers in-store shopping for families in need with a simple intake process and income-based guidelines. Visitors can make an appointment, grab a cart, and select the food that works best for their family, just like a regular grocery store. Much of the food is rescued from local grocery stores and distributed with dignity and care.
Christina emphasized the importance of removing shame and stigma from food insecurity, noting that life can change in an instant. The food bank also runs special programs like the Summer Cool Kids initiative, which provides weekly bags to replace school meals. Through Birdies for Charity, every dollar donated will earn an additional 15 cents from Webster Bank.
