Waterbury Youth Services' 27th Annual Back to School Rally is August 22nd

We spoke with Olivia Dudley, Director of Program Operations, and Rasheeda Wright, Juvenile Justice Team Leader for Waterbury Youth Services, about their 27th Annual Back to School Rally on Thursday, August 22nd as well as their mission to guide youth to discover their unique talents and potential for success --- one life at a time.

Waterbury Youth Services (WYS), the authorized Youth Service Bureau in the Greater Waterbury area, helps youth learn the skills they need to be more successful at home, in school and throughout the community. As a community-based agency, WYS responds to the needs of children, youth and their families, through a variety of programs which enhance their quality of life. WYS provides programming in the areas of: mentoring, after school programming, youth employment and leadership, truancy and juvenile justice prevention and intervention, services to youth experiencing homelessness, community outreach and summer camp.

Waterbury Youth Services envisions a future where every young person in our community is empowered to achieve their full potential, no matter their background. They aim to be a cornerstone of support, providing a pathway to success through services that address educational, emotional, and social needs. Their goal is to inspire and prepare the next generation with the confidence and resilience needed for positive, productive lives. By working collaboratively with our community, they're creating a stronger, vibrant future where every child can thrive, contribute, and dream without limits.

The Annual Back to School Rally on Thursday, August 22nd is a community outreach event that provides free backpacks, school supplies, food, entertainment, and much more.
