Renee's Adoptables: Meet Grits!

MEET GRITS

  • Good with cats
  • Good with dogs
  • Good with children
  • NOT Housetrained

There is nothing like the innocence and pure joy that you receive from a young pup. Puppyhood milestones are unique to each dog, and it is a delightful experience for all. Grits and his sister Ginny feel that their perfect families will be over the moon excited to watch them grow up living a comfortable life in their forever home long past their puppy years. They are both 4-month-old terrier mixes with a charm that goes beyond all expectations. Grits currently weighs about 25 pounds, but he is expected to be a large size dog (over 50 pounds) when fully grown.

With lots of anticipation, Grits is ready and able to make lots of new friends. That should be a cinch for him because he does well with other dogs, children of all ages and cats. The sky is the limit with this boy and playtime will be one for the record books of fun. Grits has your typical puppy energy. He is playful and loving so he can easily envision his family with a child or two so he can have a best friend or friends for life.

His training is in the early stages, and he will need his family to assist him in every aspect of the way. Grits will need to learn his house, crate and leash training as the basics for life as a house dog. He is not shying away from the challenge, and he is determined to master all three skills.

As with all puppies, Grits is full of curiosity and wonderment, and is ready to grow from adorable puppy to amazing dog with the right guidance and patience. He will need a home with someone who has the time, desire and energy to train and socialize him so that he can become the perfect lifelong companion.

Are you ready to embrace the future with a furry family member that will be the apple of your eye? Grits is right here waiting for the chance of forever happiness. His joy will also be yours.

The adoption fee for Grits is $600. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees.

To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today.

About Dog Star Rescue

Dog Star Rescue, a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, is a dog rescue organization based out of the Hartford CT area. We work closely with shelters in the South as well as New England states to save the lives of loving and loyal dogs who have lost their way and find themselves on death row. Our team of wonderful volunteers get these adoptable dogs the medical and emotional care they need so they can transition into a loving forever home. To date we’ve placed over 4,000 dogs with new families.

All of our amazing volunteers are unpaid and donate their time because of their passion for helping dogs. They spend significant time each week helping guide dogs to a wonderful new life. If you ask our volunteers, they’ll tell you they do it for a wide variety of reasons, including personal satisfaction in helping address a nationwide problem, their love of dogs, and a desire to have fun socializing with like-minded people. Dog Star is always looking for new volunteers to join our group, so if you would like to be a part of our organization, please check out our Volunteer Opportunities page.

The following video showcases some of our volunteers and dogs in action. Watch and enjoy!
