MEET BILLY
This boy has a special ability. He instantly makes friends with all people that he meets. That characteristic bodes well for him in any social setting. When you put the friend in friendly like are boy Billy does, you know you have a special canine. Billy is a 1.5-year-old labrador retriever mix and he is full grown weighing 52 pounds. He is a big boy with an even bigger heart.
With a medium energy level and a friendly disposition, Billy knows how to make friends fast. He does well with other dogs and children. He is a charmer on so many levels that everyone will want to meet Billy. We cannot blame them either. Billy just wants to be with everyone because he enjoys company so much. He has not been introduced to cats since his rescue so it is unknown if he would accept a feline companion at this time. Billy envisions his life full of outdoor activities and leisurely naps. A mix of both would work well for him.
His house and crate training are works in progress, but he is happy to announce that he is leash trained. He is really excited to make the most out of daily walks so he can spend time bonding with his family and also have many opportunities to explore and of course meet new friends. That is always on the top of his list!
Billy will benefit from a family that is willing to provide him with continued training, daily exercise and of course a good dose of regular socialization. Do not forget to include lots of petting, belly rubs and of course playtime. Every day will be a delight with Billy. He is ready to have his forever family, open up the door to love and welcome Billy home.
The adoption fee for Billy is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees.

About Dog Star Rescue:
Dog Star Rescue, a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, is a dog rescue organization based out of the Hartford CT area. We work closely with shelters in the South as well as New England states to save the lives of loving and loyal dogs who have lost their way and find themselves on death row. Our team of wonderful volunteers get these adoptable dogs the medical and emotional care they need so they can transition into a loving forever home. To date, we’ve placed over 4,000 dogs with new families.
All of our amazing volunteers are unpaid and donate their time because of their passion for helping dogs. They spend significant time each week helping guide dogs to a wonderful new life. If you ask our volunteers, they’ll tell you they do it for a wide variety of reasons, including personal satisfaction in helping address a nationwide problem, their love of dogs, and a desire to have fun socializing with like-minded people. Dog Star is always looking for new volunteers to join our group, so if you would like to be a part of our organization, please check out our Volunteer Opportunities page.
Dog Star Rescue, Inc. is a grass-roots effort started by a group of dog lovers with experience in the rescue world. What’s the meaning behind our name?
The name Dog Star comes from the common name for the star Sirius, reflecting its prominence in its constellation, Canis Major (Greater Dog). The symbolism of the star as a guide to a safe passage is what we strive to do for our adoptable dogs as we find them a new life with a loving family.
