2023 Bark and Brewfest!

Mark your calendars and join Dog Star Rescue for the 9th annual Bark & Brewfest fundraiser event on Saturday, September 30th from 4-8 pm at the Trinity Health Stadium (Hartford Athletic Stadium). This very popular event promises a pawsome time while supporting Dog Star Rescue’s mission of saving dogs’ lives. Join us and help us make a difference for the 3.1 million dogs that enter shelters annually in the U.S.

Since its establishment in 2014, Dog Star Rescue has successfully placed over 5,000 rescue dogs into loving homes. As a non-profit rescue, the Bark & Brewfest event is the biggest fundraiser of the year and all proceeds help directly support the rescue’s mission of guiding dogs toward better lives. Your ticket includes a beer flight from a variety of local microbreweries or a selection of spirits from Waypoint Distillery, several food trucks available for you to taste CT’s best food, great music, the ever-popular puppy cuddling booth, live demonstrations from CT Dog Gone Recovery, information about the Dog Star for Veterans program. Raffle tickets can be purchased online ahead of time or onsite for your chance to win amazing prizes. We will also have plenty of games and other surprises.

“This will be a great afternoon for all and the best part is knowing that you’re having fun while helping us save more rescue dogs. As a non-profit, we are reliant on the generosity of our event sponsors and ticket holders and in return, we hope people are ready to eat, drink, hold puppies and listen to great music,” said Dan McCabe, founder of Dog Star Rescue.

Join this Saturday, September 30th from 4-8 pm at the Trinity Health Stadium! Tickets are $35 and can be purchased online through Facebook, Instagram and at DogStarRescue.org. Ticket prices are $40 each at the door. Dog Star Rescue is also seeking corporate sponsors who share our passion for saving dogs’ lives. Many sponsorship options are available at DogStarRescue.org.

Dog Star Rescue is a licensed non-profit organization committed to rescuing homeless, stray and abandoned dogs from both local and out of state shelters, as well as owner surrender dogs. With the tireless work of our volunteers, we place these dogs in loving forever homes through our weekly adoption events. As an all-volunteer, foster-based non-profit, we rely on the generosity of partners and supporters like you to offset our operating costs.

About Dog Star Rescue:

Dog Star Rescue, a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, is a dog rescue organization based out of the Hartford CT area. We work closely with shelters in the South as well as New England states to save the lives of loving and loyal dogs who have lost their way and find themselves on death row. Our team of wonderful volunteers get these adoptable dogs the medical and emotional care they need so they can transition into a loving forever home. To date, we’ve placed over 4,000 dogs with new families.

All of our amazing volunteers are unpaid and donate their time because of their passion for helping dogs. They spend significant time each week helping guide dogs to a wonderful new life. If you ask our volunteers, they’ll tell you they do it for a wide variety of reasons, including personal satisfaction in helping address a nationwide problem, their love of dogs, and a desire to have fun socializing with like-minded people. Dog Star is always looking for new volunteers to join our group, so if you would like to be a part of our organization, please check out our Volunteer Opportunities page.

Dog Star Rescue, Inc. is a grass-roots effort started by a group of dog lovers with experience in the rescue world. Learn about our organization’s mission, along with our reasons for adopting a rescue dog and information about some of our current volunteers. To check out our recommendations for other companies and services that love dogs almost as much as we do, see our Friends of Dog Star Rescue page.

What’s the meaning behind our name?

The name Dog Star comes from the common name for the star Sirius, reflecting its prominence in its constellation, Canis Major (Greater Dog). The symbolism of the star as a guide to a safe passage is what we strive to do for our adoptable dogs as we find them a new life with a loving family.
