***Be prepared for an active weather day***
A TORNADO WATCH has been issued until 3 PM. This means conditions are favorable for a few weak and brief tornadoes to develope.
Slow-moving downpours/storms are likely to cause areas of major flooding or flash flooding, especially in Litchfield County where flash flooding already occurred a week ago. Make sure your sump pumps are working! Also be aware since the ground is SO saturated, it may not take much of a breeze to bring down some small trees. A 3-5 inches of rain is very possible for some with locally higher amounts possible.
There is also a secondary threat of severe weather. The atmosphere may be primed for rotating storms so we will have to watch things very closely through the day as a tornado or 2 cannot be ruled out.
Go to the basement or an inside room without windows on the lowest floor (bathroom, closet, center hallway). If possible, avoid sheltering in any room with windows. For added protection get under something sturdy (a heavy table or workbench). Cover your body with a blanket, sleeping bag or mattress. SOURCE CDC
