This little lovely Rosie has had a rough start to life, and she cannot wait to find her forever home here in New England! Rosie is a 1 year and 8 months old terrier mix with a beautiful black and white coat and soulful brown eyes. She is a large dog at 69 lbs.
Rosie was rescued by a partner rescue in Mississippi. She was originally found abandoned at an elementary school as a mom with her litter of puppies. She then had to be treated for heartworm, so she was unable to travel with her pups. Now, Rosie has finally given a clean bill of health and was able to travel to Connecticut to become a Dog Star!
Rosie gets along well with kids and dogs, although she has not yet met any cats. She is a medium-energy pup, who would enjoy lots of playtime and lots of cuddles! Rosie is fully trained on her leash, and house training. She is currently working on her crate training. It is important to remember that although she is house trained, accidents can happen while adjusting to a new home environment. Rosie will appreciate your care, patience, and love as she adjusts to her new home and finds her place in your family!
Rosie is a beautiful, sweet pup who deserves a wonderful, loving home. If you think that might be you, Rosie cannot wait to meet you!
The adoption fee for Rosie is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue, and transport fees.

About Dog Star Rescue:
Dog Star Rescue, a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, is a dog rescue organization based out of the Hartford CT area. We work closely with shelters in the South as well as New England states to save the lives of loving and loyal dogs who have lost their way and find themselves on death row. Our team of wonderful volunteers get these adoptable dogs the medical and emotional care they need so they can transition into a loving forever home. To date, we’ve placed over 4,000 dogs with new families.
All of our amazing volunteers are unpaid and donate their time because of their passion for helping dogs. They spend significant time each week helping guide dogs to a wonderful new life. If you ask our volunteers, they’ll tell you they do it for a wide variety of reasons, including personal satisfaction in helping address a nationwide problem, their love of dogs, and a desire to have fun socializing with like-minded people. Dog Star is always looking for new volunteers to join our group, so if you would like to be a part of our organization, please check out our Volunteer Opportunities page.
Dog Star Rescue, Inc. is a grass-roots effort started by a group of dog lovers with experience in the rescue world. Learn about our organization’s mission, along with our reasons for adopting a rescue dog and information about some of our current volunteers. To check out our recommendations for other companies and services that love dogs almost as much as we do, see our Friends of Dog Star Rescue page.
What’s the meaning behind our name?
The name Dog Star comes from the common name for the star Sirius, reflecting its prominence in its constellation, Canis Major (Greater Dog). The symbolism of the star as a guide to a safe passage is what we strive to do for our adoptable dogs as we find them a new life with a loving family.
