Renee's Adoptables: Meet Floppy!

Aptly named for his adorably floppy ears, Floppy is an absolute love that you do not want to miss out on! Floppy is a 4-year-old Walker Hound mix with a short tricolor coat. He is a large dog, weighing in at 50 lbs.

Floppy was found abandoned but was rescued by a partner shelter. He has now made his way to Dog Star and is so ready to meet his forever family! Floppy is a sweet, confident, and medium-energy guy, who is sure to melt your heart with his lovable personality. He gets along well with his dog and human friends, including children! However, he has not yet had a chance to meet a cat.

Floppy would love to join a family who will provide him with proper training and plenty of socialization, plus lots of play, exercise, and love! He is working hard on his house, crate, and leash training and cannot wait to impress you with his willingness to learn new skills.

If this lovable guy might have a place in your heart and your home, we would love to hear from you!

The adoption fee for Floppy is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue, and transport fees.

To get the ball rolling, head over to the Adoption Application and submit your application today.

A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours.

To help speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with Dog Star.

About Dog Star Rescue:

Dog Star Rescue, a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, is a dog rescue organization based out of the Hartford CT area. We work closely with shelters in the South as well as New England states to save the lives of loving and loyal dogs who have lost their way and find themselves on death row. Our team of wonderful volunteers get these adoptable dogs the medical and emotional care they need so they can transition into a loving forever home. To date, we’ve placed over 4,000 dogs with new families.

All of our amazing volunteers are unpaid and donate their time because of their passion for helping dogs. They spend significant time each week helping guide dogs to a wonderful new life. If you ask our volunteers, they’ll tell you they do it for a wide variety of reasons, including personal satisfaction in helping address a nationwide problem, their love of dogs, and a desire to have fun socializing with like-minded people. Dog Star is always looking for new volunteers to join our group, so if you would like to be a part of our organization, please check out our Volunteer Opportunities page.

Dog Star Rescue, Inc. is a grass-roots effort started by a group of dog lovers with experience in the rescue world. Learn about our organization’s mission, along with our reasons for adopting a rescue dog and information about some of our current volunteers. To check out our recommendations for other companies and services that love dogs almost as much as we do, see our Friends of Dog Star Rescue page.

What’s the meaning behind our name?

The name Dog Star comes from the common name for the star Sirius, reflecting its prominence in its constellation, Canis Major (Greater Dog). The symbolism of the star as a guide to a safe passage is what we strive to do for our adoptable dogs as we find them a new life with a loving family.
