iHeartCommunities Big Y Storm Center powered by WTNH: Rain, Flooding, Cancellations - OH MY!
We have been tracking some nasty storms through the morning hours. Flooded roads reported from Wolcott to Hartford, to Farmington and Newington. The clouds will hang around through the afternoon and there could still be some more spotty thundershowers. Overnight, the clouds will move out and the humidity will finally come down! Thursday and Friday look like a pair of great days with sunshine and comfortable conditions! But let’s talk about Lee below–
Hurricane Lee is making the turn to the north. As the storm moves into cooler water, it will gradually weaken. By the time it passes New England, it will either be a Category 1 hurricane OR post tropical. IF Lee becomes post tropical, then the winds and rain will start to expand away from the center of the storm–allowing for gusty winds and possibly some rain bands to make it to CT. Right now, I would prepare for some gusty winds around 30 to 40 MPH, especially in eastern CT. With the ground being SO saturated, it may not take super strong gusts to bring down some trees.
