UConn Students to Dance 18 hours to End Fundraiser for CT Children’s

For Immediate Release

UConn Students Pledge to Dance for 18 Hours to Celebrate the End of a Year-long Fundraiser for Connecticut Children’s

STORRS, Conn. – On Saturday, March 4, UConn Students will be hosting their 24th annual HuskyTHON Dance Marathon to celebrate their year-long fundraising efforts for the patients and families of Connecticut Children’s. HuskyTHON is the University of Connecticut’s year-long fundraising initiative, benefitting Connecticut Children’s and culminating in an 18-hour dance marathon. Last year, HuskyTHON 2022 raised a total of $1.340,670.68, which contributed to the more-than $10 million raised by the organization since 1999. This weekend, over 3,600 UConn students will participate in the event, each hoping to add to that total. The event will be held from 6am to midnight in the Hugh S. Greer Field House on the UConn Storrs campus.

Participants have been fundraising all year, and they are excited to return to the Hugh S. Greer Field House, the traditional setting for the dance marathon, since the hybrid and outdoor events of the past two years. HuskyTHON is the largest student-run organization at UConn, the Northeast’s highest-fundraising Children’s Miracle Network Dance Marathon, and the largest fundraiser for Connecticut Children’s. In addition to HuskyTHON’s monetary success and contributions to Connecticut Children’s, the organization also holds a deep impact on the UConn Community, uniting thousands of students by one cause.

While the students do not publicize any monetary goal for the event, the HuskyTHON 2023 community is using the campaign “Go Beyond” to symbolize their goals. At midnight on Saturday, March 4, HuskyTHON will reveal their final fundraising total to conclude the fundraising year. HuskyTHON can’t do this alone! The UConn community needs you to help them Go Beyond as they fight to Change Kids’ Health, and Change The Future.

WHEN: Saturday, March 4, from 6AM to Midnight.

WHERE: The Hugh S. Greer Field House at the University of Connecticut (Storrs Campus). Live Stream available at www.huskython.org.

WHY: Each year, thousands of UConn students unite under one cause: to work toward a world free of childhood illness. They do so by fundraising year-round for Connecticut Children’s Greatest Need Fund, which provides resources for immediate care necessities. Students, known as ‘dancers,’ create teams with their respective organizations and each sponsor a patient of Connecticut Children’s, whom they call ‘Miracle Children.’ The ability to dance alongside these children, whose lives are directly impacted by our mission, is exactly what makes HuskyTHON a unique philanthropy and experience.
