Connecticut women Offers Aid to Zanzibar

RADIOLOGY SERVICE TRIP TO ZANZIBAR:

Kristen Beaupre, CT Technologist, travels to remote island in Africa
ABOUT THE TRIP

• In January, Kristen Beaupre, CT Technologist at Jefferson Radiology, travelled to Zanzibar, a small island in Tanzania, Africa, to help provide much needed radiology services to a new hospital

• The trip was sponsored by Rad-Aid, whose mission is to increase and improve radiology services in low and middle income countries

• Getting there wasn’t easy. With delayed flights and weather issues, it took Kristen close to three days just to get to the island. ABOUT KRISTEN Kristen has over 25 years of experience in radiology and was handpicked by leadership for her expertise, deep knowledge of CT procedures, and continued dedication to quality patient care. She has worked in a Tier 1 trauma hospital, community-based hospital, and an outpatient setting.

“It was such a humbling experience that gave you "all the feels." It was truly eye-opening what we do in the U.S. in comparison to countries like Zanzibar. This trip reignited that we go through the motions here, and we sometimes forget that what we do makes a difference." - Beaupre
