Renee's Adoptable Pet Picks

Renee's Adoptable Pet Picks from the Woof Gang Rescue: Daisy, Maple and Xena!Photo: Renee

DAISY - approximately 9-year-old pit mix found roaming on the Hartford/Windsor line with obvious medical issues, never claimed. We think she was used for breeding then thrown away when she became unwell after a lifetime without vet care.

She is the kindest, sweetest dog and loves people. She would be ok in a home with another calm dog, or she would love to be your only dog for the rest of her days. Daisy is housebroken and crate trained, low energy, and lame from an untreated knee injury, so she is an easy walker and shouldn't live in a home with lots of stairs. We have gotten Daisy fully vaccinated and she will be spayed the last week of January and have a growth removed so she is ready for a soft and gentle retirement home.

MAPLE - Gorgeous Maple is the rescue's longest resident, and is a 2-year-old cattle dog mix, full grown around 60lbs. Maple is a very smart dog who knows lots of commands, and she is housebroken and crate trained. She is very strong, and she can be a boundary-tester, so she needs a firm handler, ideally someone with herding breed experience. Maple is very active and has a strong prey drive so she would do best in a home without small animals or little kids. She would love to be the queen of your castle, if you are an outdoorsy person who doesn't mind throwing a tennis ball 50 times a day :) Maple is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.

XENA - Sweet Xena is a young husky/shepherd mix who was turned into a local animal control, very sick and underweight. She has been nursed back to health, is putting on weight, and will be spayed and vaccinated in February. We think she is between 7-9 months old and will be about a 50-60 lb dog when she is done growing - she still acts very much like a puppy! She is a Velcro dog who is playful, goofy and vocal, and loves other dogs. She is working on her housebreaking and crate training and will need an adopter who can continue training her on the basics, and give her lots of exercise. She would love a fenced in yard.
