9/11 National Day of Service

Listen here for Renee's interview with Patrolman Coney about the 9/11 National Day of Service!

For over the past 20 years, sadly there has been a 9/11 Day... there is an organization responsible for establishing, and now driving activity around the 9/11 National Day of Service. For the past six years, on 9/11, (this year 9/12/2022) they have executed a large scale Meal Pack in New York City, aimed at feeding hungry families in and around the New England Area. In 2018, they expanded their meal packs into three other new cities. This year, they will be in 8... New York, Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago, St. Louis, Phoenix, Los Angeles and San Francisco. All told, they’ll pack more than 3 million meals, and mobilize more than 12 million volunteers, on a single day.

This event will happen on board the U.S.S. Intrepid all day. Officer Coney will have the privilege of being a part of the ringing of the bell ceremony again this year along with packing meals.

Watch this video from last year to learn more about the purpose of 9/11 Day!
