Teacher Shares What’s In And Out With Tweens Today

For anyone who's tired of hearing kids say "six-seven," the good news is it's out for 2026. Teacher and TikToker @emilylaurann, polled her students to find out what slang and trends are in and what's out this year. Her class says that terms like "sigma" and "skibidi" are "so 2024." Terms like "Italian brain rot" and "steal brain rot" are “more for second and third graders.” But "rizz" is still "in" this year and so is describing something good as "bad."

Other things 5th graders say are “in”

  • Birkenstock clogs
  • Nate Bargatze
  • “Stranger Things”
  • The phrase “low-key”
