Labor Day weekend is here, with loads of events to check out during the long weekend. Whether you’re looking for livestock shows, carnival rides, cider donuts, or global eats, there’s something for everyone. Here’s a list of things to do this weekend to celebrate the unofficial “end of summer.”
- Haddam Neck Fair: This fair, hosted by the Haddam Neck Agricultural Society, runs from Aug. 29 – Sept. 1. The country fair features tractor pulls, a demolition derby, midway rides, livestock exhibits, agricultural displays, and live entertainment. Food vendors at the fair serve fried dough and sausages, along with other classic fair foods. Don’t miss the firework show and nightly concerts.
- Woodstock Fair: One of the largest agricultural fairs in New England, featuring shows, craft barns, produce contests, and a number of concerts throughout the day. The fair has plenty of rides, fair food, and games to keep kids busy.
- Goshen Fair: This fair is a mix of rural tradition and family fun, with oxen pulls, horse shows, tractor contests, and vendors selling farm goods and handmade crafts. The fair runs from Aug. 30 – Sept. 1.
- Fairfield International Food Fest: On Aug. 30, the food festival features global cuisines, craft vendors, and live entertainment.
- Corn Maze & Cider Donut Festival: At Lyman Orchards, guests can explore the farm’s famous corn maze, eat cider donuts, and stock up on fresh produce from the farm store, while enjoying live music and kids’ activities.
