How Many Steps Should You Really Be Taking Each Day? 

We’ve all heard that 10,000 steps a day is the gold standard for staying healthy—but new research suggests you might not need quite that many to see real benefits. 

A recent global study published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology found that walking just 4,000 steps a day can begin to reduce the risk of early death. Even more surprising? As few as 2,300 steps a day may help lower your risk of dying from heart-related conditions. 

The study analyzed data from over 226,000 people around the world and found that every extra 1,000 steps taken per day was linked to a 15% drop in the risk of death. The benefits continued to increase up to 20,000 steps per day—so the more you move, the better! 

This is encouraging news for anyone who finds the 10,000-step goal a bit overwhelming. Whether it’s a walk around the block or just moving more throughout your day, every step really does count.
