Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming Lori Susi, Executive Director of the Intensive Education Academy (IEA), for an inspiring conversation about the amazing work being done at this special education school here in Connecticut.
Founded in 1971, IEA is a nonprofit, state-approved facility that provides a nurturing and individualized learning environment for all students with learning differences. Their mission is focused on helping each students discover their strengths and build confidence to reach their full potential in academics and life. IEA takes a holistic approach, supporting the whole child, not just academically, but emotionally and socially too. With individualized instruction, strong reading programs, and innovative offerings like songwriting and robotics, students are given the tools to discover their unique passions!
During the interview, Lori shared details about IEA's biggest annual event, The Wings of Possibilities Gala on April 25th, 2025 at The Hartford Golf Club. This special evening will feature auctions, a gourmet dinner, and stories from students and families whose lives have been changed by IEA's mission. All funds raised will support key school initiatives, including student programs and transportation.
