Study: Over Three-Quarters Of Cannabis Users Say It Boosts Mental Health

Now that marijuana is legal in so many states, more people are opening up about their use of it. A new survey of nearly 4-thousand (3,926) cannabis consumers across the country reveals their habits and preferences. It finds that 78% of them say it has positive effects on their mental health.

According to the poll:

  • The majority of cannabis users aren’t trying to cut back, in fact, 78% expect their use will remain the same or increase during the next 12 months.
  • Nearly eight in 10 (79%) believe cannabis positively impacts their overall happiness and 63% say it makes them more social.
  • As a result of these benefits, cannabis has become a part of their daily routine, with 48% of respondents reporting they use it every day.
  • Cannabis users are three times more likely to smoke it than consume edibles.
  • When choosing a dispensary, users say price and quality matter most.
  • Since they believe it has such a positive effect on their lives, 56% of users would not apply for a job that required regular drug testing or would quit if their employer started requiring drug testing.
