The Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation has been providing German Shepherd Guide Dogs for over 60 years across the US and internationally to the visually impaired and blind. Back in May they named one of their 12 week old puppies Denise, after Denise D'Ascenzo, who will grow to be a hero guide dog!
Puppy Denise is now a growing, loving 7 1/2 month old puppy who is full of love. She is currently in phase one of her training with her puppy raiser family learning basic commands and socialization.
Chelsea Mora, Fidelco Guide Dog Instructor on naming Puppy Denise, "We knew of her strong love for people and animals and doing good in the world, it seemed natural to name one of our guide dogs after her, a guiding light for so many in Connecticut."
Jen Caley, Fidelco Dog Trainer, said "Puppy Denise is learning about the world right now and will be ready for her Guide Dog Training when she is 18 months old."
It takes 2 years, 15,000 hours, and $65,000 to create each life-changing guide dog. All Fidelco guide dogs are provided to clients at no cost thanks to generous support from individuals, foundations, corporations, and other organizations.
Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with offices in Bloomfield and Wilton, CT.
The goal is to place Puppy Denise with a visually impaired client and give the gift of independence to the client. We know Denise would be honored to know her puppy namesake will lead a life of service! To help support the mission of Fidelco and Puppy Denise visit HERE.
