Boys & Girls Club Virtual Dashaway Luncheon to benefit SMART Girls program

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford announced that Dr. Joanne Berger-Sweeney, President of Trinity College, will serve as the keynote speaker for the 2020 Dashaway event, a fundraising program to benefit the organization’s SMART Girls program.

The event, presented by the EVERSOURCE and emceed by ESPN’s Elle Duncan, is scheduled for Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 11:45 am. The Clubs’ 2020 “SMART Girl of the Year” Ma’Layasia Thompson will be recognized, as well as Marjorie E. Morrissey, who will receive the The Jan-Gee McCollam Champion of Young Women Award.

SMART Girls is a health, life skills and empowerment program designed to help girls (ages 8-18) build self esteem and a sense of self-worth. Through the program, girls build decision-making skills, learn about proper nutrition and develop positive relationships with peers and adults.
