Hartford Public Schools to Start September 9th After Cyber Attack Delay

Good news for Hartford Public School students and teachers: the first day of school will be Wednesday, September 9th for both in-person and online classes!

This follows a postponed first day due to a cyber attack on Tuesday, September 8th.

HPS has released the following statement:

"We are pleased to announce that Hartford Public Schools will start school for both online and in-person learning tomorrow, Wednesday, September 9, 2020. We regret the unexpected delay and deeply appreciate your patience and flexibility as we resume our plans to welcome all our students back to school.

We have been informed by Metro Hartford Information Services (MHIS), our City of Hartford shared services team that manages our network infrastructure, that our critical systems have been restored following the ransomware attack. Our bus transportation database is once again accessible, allowing us to share complex schedules with our bus company and schools, and to safely transport thousands of students in and around Hartford.

MHIS has stated that no student or employee personal data was accessed or stolen during this cyber attack. The Hartford Police Department and the FBI are also investigating the attack."
