The Tax Day Payment Deadline Is Being Pushed Back

If you owe Uncle Sam money on Tax Day, take a breath.

The Trump administration is pushing back the deadline to pay your taxes by 90 days. So instead of having to shell out money on April 15, it’ll be July 15th. Everyone still has to file their taxes, though.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin explained how this will work during a news conference. He also noted “We encourage those Americans who can file their taxes to continue to file their taxes on April 15 because for many Americans, you will get tax refunds. We don’t want you to lose out on those tax refunds, we want you to make sure you get them. Many people do this electronically, which is easy for them, and easy for the IRS.”

As far as states go, unless you hear different from your state officials, April 15 is still the deadline.
