While Bruce Springsteen is known for his classic holiday cover of “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town,” that isn’t the only holiday song he’s ever covered, and he recently released a performance of one that’s a bit bittersweet.
In case you missed it, Bruce has debuted a video of a performance of “Blue Christmas,” which was actually his last ever-performance with longtime saxophonist and friend Clarence Clemons.
The performance was recorded December 7th, 2010 at a special live concert at the Carousel House on the Asbury Park boardwalk, which featured songs from his “Darkness on the Edge of Town” box set “The Promise.” Bruce ended the night with the sad Christmas tune, inviting fans to join him on stage for the song, which would wind up being his last performance with the Big Man, who died in June 2011.
