Dentist Buys Kids’ Excess Candy To Send to Troops And First Responders

Kids love collecting and eating as much Halloween candy as they can, but their dentists aren’t as thrilled about the damage all that sugar can do to their teeth. That’s why one dentist’s office in Independence, Ohio came up with a candy buy-back program to entice trick-or-treaters to give up some of their haul.

For a few days in November, Rockside Family Dental Care pays kids $2 a pound for their excess candy if they come in wearing a costume and $1 a pound without a costume. The candy is then donated to Operation Gratitude, a group that collects candy and sends it in care packages to deployed service members and also gives it to local first responders, who pass it on to underprivileged kids in the community. It’s a great idea,IF you can get your kids to part with any of their treats
