Uber Driver Buys Baby Clothes For Mother With Sick Baby

Nikki Ihus, a new mom from Kansas, has been sitting by her baby’s hospital bed while he’s being treated for a life-threatening rare birth defect. Her son,John Henry, was born with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia and has traveled a long way from home to be in the care of expert doctors at John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida.

When Nikki needed to go buy some new baby clothes for him, she called an Uber and was picked up by a driver named Belinda. The women talked and the mom shared her story as they drove to a children’s store. But when they got there, the driver didn’t just drop her off, she went in and shopped with her, telling her she shouldn’t be alone.

But her kindness didn’t stop there. Belinda ended up buying 30 pieces of clothing for the baby and getting to know her new buddy. “She needed to talk and I was there to listen,” Belinda says. “I believe people get in my car for a reason other than a ride.”
