The Hartford Hope Group Medication Assisted Recovery Anonymous

In an effort to help address the opioid epidemic in our community, the Hartford Hope Group is the first of its kind in Connecticut for Medication-Assisted Recovery Anonymous (MARA) (http://mara-international.org/connecticut/); and they will be hosting their very first meeting on Monday, August 19, 2019 (6:30 pm - 7:30 pm) at the Community Renewal Team’s (CRT) Multi-Service Center in Hartford (330 Market Street, Hartford, CT 06120 – lower level of building).

The MARA Hartford Hope Group is a fellowship-run, peer-to-peer group where individuals (ages 18 and up) can receive and give support to others to achieve and maintain their own personal recovery from addiction.

MARA is a 12-step program designed and modeled similarly to others such as Narcotics Anonymous. MARA meetings embrace the use of medication as part of the recovery journey. There is no stigma, judgment or shame about the use of medication. MARA members believe that medication is a therapeutic tool of recovery that may or may not be discontinued in time, dependent on the needs of the individual.

Unique to the MARA Hartford Hope Group, for those who are unable to attend meetings in person, is a confidential, virtual option to attend the group using secure, online collaboration and messaging software.

Food and drink will be served at this first meeting. Free, on-site parking is available at 330 Market St., and the meeting is on the lower level of the building, accessible through the back entrance of the building.

Subsequent meetings of the MARA Hartford Hope Group will be held every Monday evening (6:30 pm - 7:30 pm) at the same location. Meetings are open to all (ages 18 and up); and parents/guardians can bring children (a supervised play area inside the building is available).
