Here is Renee's interview with Doe Hentschel, Vice President for Programs for Leadership Greater Hartford, Laura Roberts, SNAP Outreach Coordinator for Foodshare, and Steve and Patricia Zwerling, Third Age Hunger Task Force!
They chat about the Third Age Initiative Hunger Task Force, which is a volunteer-based outreach program to assist Foodshare clients applying for SNAP (food stamps) that's resulted in more than 4,100 recipients receiving 3.5 million meals and has become a national model! Hunger Task Force, Third Age Initiative is a final nominee for The Connection Award at the 2019 Polaris Awards, hosted by Leadership Greater Hartford.

The Polaris Awards gala is our annual signature fundraising event that recognizes “guiding lights” in our community. Each fall, hundreds of diverse leaders from every sector in the Greater Hartford area come together to support the mission of LGH and recognize honorees who strengthen community, leadership, and connections in our region.
This year, the Polaris Award recipients will be recognized in three categories that reflect the three pillars of LGH: Community, Leadership, and Connections.
The Community Award:Recognizing an individual, an organization or business committed to the common good and leading the way to make our region more vibrant.
The Connection Award:Recognizing an LGH initiative or program task force project or team project, created during the last 15 years, that has created a lasting and compounding impact for the betterment of the region. This award will be narrowed down to the top three nominees prior to the event. Voting and announcement of the winner will happen live at Polaris!
The Leadership Award:Recognizing an individual who embodies the five values of Leadership Greater Hartford: Leadership, Community, Diversity, Engagement, and Collaboration.
