A new Bankrate survey finds that while 52% of Americans are planning to take a summer vacation this year, 26% definitely won’t be, with 39 million Americans saying they won’t be going on one because they can’t afford it.

The survey notes that the average person will spend $1,979 on their summer vacation, while older Millennials (30 to 38) will spend about $2,366, and younger Millennials (23 to 29) will spend about $1,297.

As for what is keeping folks from being able to afford a getaway this summer, 44% cited day-to-day bills, while 22% say they are too busy paying down their debt to afford to go away.
