CT Parrot Society's 12th Annual Featherfest

Connecticut Parrot Society's 12th Annual Featherfest

For some bird owners, especially new ones, it is pretty hard to find quality supplies, advice, and information for your feathered friend in a mostly dog-and-cat world. If you can relate to, or just love birds, you don’t want to miss the Connecticut Parrot Society’s (CPS) 12th annual Featherfest on March 30, 2019.

Featherfest is CPS’ annual bird fair at the Elks Club in Middletown, CT that includes educational speakers, bird-related vendors, and live birds (not for sale). The event is open to the public from 10 am to 5 pm, and admission is only $5 per person (children under 12 and CPS members are free).

This year’s educational speakers include the following:

·10:30 am - MaryBeth Kaeser, Horizon Wings, a non-profit birds of prey rehab center.

“A Case of Mistaken Identity.”

·1:30 pm – Karen LaFollett, founder of FlockCall.com, award winning author, humorist, and parrot family flock consultant

“What a Relationship Is According to a Parrot - How Our Parrots See the Idea Of Communication, Friendship, and Having Us as Roommates.”

Other highlights include: Door prizes, teacup auction and many vendors with an array of bird-related items such as toys, food, and jewelry.

About Connecticut Parrot Society:

CPS was formed in September, 2006. It is a non-profit, 501c3 organization, based in Middletown, CT. CPS’ mission is to “educate the public and its members about responsible keeping of companion parrots. As part of that mission, CPS provides information to its members and to the public concerning legislation and conservation issues impacting companion parrots and those in the wild.”

Through this mission, the Connecticut Parrot Society (CPS) helps residents of Connecticut with the placement of companion birds and has adopted out more than 300 birds in its adoption program. It is also involved in extensive outreach and education programs for schools and groups, and affiliated with numerous national avian organizations.

CPS meets the first Thursday of each month (except July and August) at 7 pm at the Wadsworth Glen Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, 30 Boston Road, Middletown, CT. The public is welcome to attend a meeting as a guest. Meetings include social time for members and their birds and an educational guest speaker.
