What’s the difference between “abuse” and “proper punishment?” The eye of the beholder. And that’s what Ohio dad Matt Cox is finding out after posting video of his 10-year-old daughter Kristen walking to school. What’s the problem? It was 36-degree weather…and it was a distance of five miles.
As for why he’d do such a thing, the answer is simple: she had been busted at school for the second time this year for bullying. “This is my small way of trying to stop it in my household,” says Cox, who goes on to say that he isn’t about to be a parent who just brushes things under a rug with a “kids will be kids” philosophy.
For the record…Cox did have Kristen properly dressed, he split the distance up over a period of days…and he followed close behind. And he knew about the potential flak – he just didn’t care. "I know a lot of you parents are not going to agree with this and that's alright," he says in the clip. "I am doing what I think is right to teach my daughter a lesson to stop her from bullying." And yes – there are people on both sides of the argument – but reaction has been overwhelmingly positive.
Too far? Or, just right??
