Joe Perry was reportedly hospitalized following a guest appearance at Billy Joe’s concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday night. After wrapping up a performance of “Walk This Way,” a source says he “looked terrible” and collapsed upon returning to his dressing room.
Paramedics were called to the scene, reportedly clearing his airway with a tracheal tube before putting him on a stretcher and rushing him out of the crowded venue and to the hospital. According to sources connected to the Aerosmith guitarist, he’s been dealing with “breathing issues for the last few weeks and it came to a head last night,” apparently involving lung congestion.
But fans shouldn’t be too worried – while Perry is still recovering in the hospital, a rep for the guitarist tells PEOPLE in a statement that he is "alert and responsive." The rep also notes that Perry should "return to the road later this month."
