APK Charities 5K and Ruck March Recap!

APK Charities 5K and Ruck March Recap!

On Saturday, November 2, 2018 we had the honor of being a part of the 5th Annual APK Charities 5K and 5K Ruck March at the Guilford Fair Grounds. It may have rained but that did not deter any of the attendees. People of all from all over came to support our military who have served and are still serving. On this day we joined together, bowed our heads, prayed for their safe return, and shook their hands to say thank you. You could feel the gratitude and sense of love radiating throughout the event.

It was a 5K run as well as a Ruck March. With soaked shirts, muddy legs, and 20lb rucks on their back they marched the entire distance. Not once, did their dedication and determination waver. They walked and ran 3 miles in honor of those who have fallen and gave the ultimate sacrifice. There was also a donation site for canned goods and other necessities for our soldiers overseas and they were able to send over 6,000 lbs of donations. The U.S. Army Special Operations Command Parachute Demonstration Team A.K.A "The Black Daggers" also made an appearance but were unable to perform a jump due to the weather. The U.S National Guard, U.S. Army Band, and veterans from all branches of the military were also in attendance.

Afterwards, there was a post race party complete with chili, corn chowder, and clam chowder from Lenny and Joes, apple cider donuts from Bishops Orchards, Dunkin Donuts coffee, Chobani yogurt, fresh fruit and so much more! The participants were definitely replenished once they finished.

All in all, it was a memorable day with so many gracious people and supporters. We'd like to thank Bob and Helen for being so easy to work with and for putting on such a beautiful event in memory of their son, Andrew. You are so strong and truly an inspiration to all of us. Thank you for all that you do. Never Falter Never Quit.
