CERT presents a FREE event for Nation Preparedness Month

CERT presents a FREE event for Nation Preparedness Month

On Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm approximately 14 Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) from Connecticut’s Capital Region will gather at Veteran’s Memorial Park, 575 Pleasant Valley Road, South Windsor, in observance of Nation Preparedness Month.

Capitol Region CERTs will meet to display their equipment, and to establish rapport and camaraderie as well as to educate the public about the importance of being prepared for emergencies or disasters within their homes, neighborhoods, and the community. (National Preparedness Month, recognized each year, reminds us that we all must prepare ourselves and our families now and throughout the year.)

The CERTs will conduct demonstrations ranging from skills they learned during their basic CERT course instruction such a First Aid / Controlling Bleeding and Basic Fire Suppression, as well as advanced skills to include Canine Search and Rescue, Drone Operation, and Mountain Bicycle Search and Rescue Techniques. All attendees will have the opportunity to see and touch most of the equipment and to talk to the CERT members in order to find out how they can prepare themselves and their families for unexpected incidents.

The general public is encouraged to attend this FREE EVENT. There will be Food Trucks and adequate free parking within the Veteran’s Memorial Park borders.
