FIDELCO Celebrates National Guide Dog Month 2018

September is “National Guide Dog Awareness Month”...created to highlight and celebrate the life changing and loving partnerships of guide dogs and their people. Today, we are talking with Eliot Russman, President and CEO of Fidelco Guide Dogs.

As we celebrate National Guide Dog Awareness Month, our organization also thanks the hundreds of people that help to deliver our charitable mission: compassionate volunteers, dedicated staff, and our donors who provide the funding that keeps us going.

Here's a reminder of what it takes to create elite Fidelco German Shepherd Guide Dogs

  • 2 years from birth to guide dog placement
  • more than 15,000 hours of training
  • $45,000 direct costs for every Fidelco Guide Dog
  • And all are gifted to clients an no cost – including 24/7 client service for the lifetime of the working team

Lucky for you, it is so simple to get involved with this extraordinary organization

Just bring your passion to Fidelco Guide Dogs and we’ll find a place for you. We have two offices in Wilton and Bloomfield, CT where people can volunteer. We’ve been very busy in the Pup House this summer, too, VERY BUSY, and we need Volunteer Puppy Raiser Families to help raise these beautiful pups!

Also DON'T FORGET about their upcoming event, Ride for Independence

Our Ride for Independence motorcycle fundraising ride event is Sunday, October 7th. It’s a family-friendly event featuring BEAR’S BBQ. And everyone is invited to join Team Fidelco to run, walk and support our charitable mission in the Eversource Hartford Marathon on Saturday, October 13th. All details can be found on our website, fidelco.org
