GOOD NEWS: Boy Sells Toys For Service Dogs Surgery

(WROC-TV) - Copper is a registered service and emotional support dog. To 10-year-old Connor Jayne, of Fairport, he’s much more. "He one of my best friends,” said Connor Jayne.

Connor was diagnosed with PTSD, Anxiety, ADHD, chronic headache disorder, and he suffers from nocturnal seizures.

“One night Copper begin barking at the door and I assumed the dog needed to go out, instead the dog ran to Connor’s room and I was actually able to see my son having seizure activity, I would have never known,” said Jennifer Jayne, Connor’s mom.

She said Copper can sense when an anxiety attack is coming and pushes his body against Connor to relieve the anxiety symptoms.

Recently, Copper has been struggling to walk. Veterinarians believe it could be Wobbler Disease which affects the spine and discs. “When we found out how much the surgical consult and the MRI and surgery was going to cost we just realized we just didn't have that money,” said Jayne.

Connor came up with an idea to sell his toys in a yard sale to raise money to cover the costs. Any money made that goes above and beyond what's needed for Copper will be donated to help other animals in need.

The sale is located on High Street in Fairport.

It will continue through the weekend from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
