Sergeant Stubby Salutes at Connecticut Trees of Honor Memorial - May 26 - 10:30-2:00
The sculptress Susan Bahary is putting the finishing touches on the life-size bronze of Stubby and he is traveling from California soon. Join us on May 26 at the Connecticut Trees of Honor Memorial located in Veterans Memorial Park in Middletown, CT for the dedication ceremony.
There will be a Rememberance and Dedication Ceremony from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. The names of the 65 soldiers honored at the Memorial will be read, and an American flag placed at each marker. The bronze statue of Stubby will be unveiled. Ron Aiello, President of the U.S. War Dog Association will speak, along with remarks from other honored guests, including Susan Bahary. There will be a special performance by CT’s official troubadour, Tom Callinan.
A Celebration (12:00 pm to 2:00 pm) will follow. You’ll enjoy a free picnic lunch, music, and activities for children. Books (one for children and a second for adults) about our favorite dog will be available for purchase, with noted Author Ann Bausum on hand to personally sign them. Plus, trained working dogs will demonstrate their skills.
