Justify is the winner of the 144th Kentucky Derby. Justify with jockey Mike Smith went off as the 5-to-2 favorite Saturday and was first to the finish line on a muddy track at Churchill Downs.
Good Magic finished second, followed by Audible. It was another win for legendary trainer Bob Baffert and officially the wettest "Run for the Roses" ever. The Derby is the first leg of horse racing's Triple Crown. The Preakness Stakes will take place Saturday, May 19th, followed by the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 9th.
But Justify wasn’t the only big winner. While the steed’s take was worth $1.432-million to the horse's owners…an $18 bet scored a Texas woman a prize of $1.2-million with her "pick 5" (which in some places is called a Superfecta). She remains unidentified, but did pose for pictures.
