Hero Dog Saves Little Girl

An old dog in Australia showed that although being deaf and partially blind, he still had one last trick to pull off -- and it saved a little girl's life.

The 17-year-old cattle dog, named Max, went into full Lassie mode to help rescue a three-year-old girl who wandered off from her family's home and got lost in the woods. Her parents reported her missing and a search party of about 100 volunteers went out to look for her but found no trace of the little girl.

Fortunately, Max followed her into the bush and never left her side, even as the temperature dropped and rain began to fall at night.

The next morning, Max ran off and found the girl's grandmother and helped lead her and the rescuers to the girl. She was found safe and in good condition.

For his heroics, Max has been declared an honorary police dog.
