8th Annual Shine On 5K
Spring is finally in the air and the 2018 Shine On 5k is around the corner! Sign up today online or at the Burlington Parks and Rec office. Based on participant feedback, we are keeping the earlier start times we had last year. We hope this will enable everyone to join us!
The 8th annual Shine On 5k will be Sunday, May 20th at Lewis Mills High School in Burlington, CT.
Schedule
9:30am – registration and check in is open
10:40am – 1 mile kid’s fun run on LSM campus for kids 13 & under – medals to the top 3 finishers
11:00am – 5k run/fitness walk – USATF certified
11:30am – ¼ mile dolphin dash on the track at LSM – FREE EVENT for ages 8 & under with giveaways for all participants
Awards will immediately follow – Overall male & female & top three male and female finishers in each category as well as top male and female teacher (from any school district)
NEW FOR 2018
We are offering both adult and youth size t-shirts. Select shirt size and either Adult or Youth when registering. Shirts are included for pre-registered runners and walkers of the 5k, as well as the one mile run. Shirts are not included for the free ¼ mile run.

Click on Programs and select Shine On 5k under Special Events. If you are a runner and would like to be timed for the 5k, please register for the 5k road race. If you are walking and do not want a timing chip, please select the Fitness Walk. There are options for the kid’s fun runs as well.
You can also fill in and mail or drop off the attached registration at the Burlington Parks and Rec office at the town hall. Register by April 30th in order to receive a Shine On 5k t-shirt! If you want a dri-fit shirt for an additional charge, please select the dri-fit option. Dri-fit cannot be ordered after April 30th when the t-shirt order is placed.
Race proceeds benefit support the Karen DuCotey Fund for Kids, which benefits families in Region 10 schools. Please join us for this local event and help us continue to support local families in need! More than ten grants from the fund assisted Region 10 students and families in 2017 alone. The 8th annual event promises the same great running competition and family fun as in past years.
